In the Syrian city of Aleppo, where fierce fighting between the Army President Bashar al-Assad and the rebels, there is a significant number of women who took up arms to defend from the regime.

Syrian groups earlier this month established a unit “Mu’minah Aisha” which joined the Syrian Liberation Army (FSA) in the fight against Assad’s forces.

The unit currently operates 13 women, three students and ten teachers. All the members of the old units are between 17 and 35 years.
